DIGITAL UTOPIA

“Digital Utopia: An Ideal Online World for Girls- A Mobile Short Film Competition” is an attempt at bringing a female-centric vision of an ideal, safe, and secure online world for women in one frame for this year's International Girl's Day, organized by WeMen View and Plan International Bangladesh as a part of “Equality Awards 2020”.

Let’s create an online world where we thrive as healthy, equal, and complete members of all communities while fostering respect, inclusiveness, and integrity. Through the medium of film, we explore the awareness of the dynamic and powerful roles of women from any avenue. Plan International's theme for the celebration of the day is "Online Freedom- Digital Safety and Security Of Girls"- to raise the issue of abuse, harassment and violence females face in digital and online platforms.

We are very proud to invite our first judge for the competition, Tasmiah Afrin Mou.

With her debut short film "কবি স্বামীর মৃত্যুর পর আমার জবানবন্দি", she took the entire nation on a psychological journey of discovering the emotions of a recently widowed woman who's having a feeling of deliverance after the death of her poet husband.
Her depiction of complex narratives with exceptional accessed emotions made her a champion of female-centric tales. One of her popular documentaries. "টোকাই ২০১২" was awarded as the Best Short Documentary at Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival in 2014. Next, she's set to bring another film project "কাক" (The Crows) which has already been selected for the Locarno Open Doors Consultancy earlier this year.
